Owners urge govt to reopen restaurant maintaining health guidelines
They urged the government for giving stimulus to the workers of this sector via mobile phone or assist them with food via certain cards
Bangladesh Restaurant Owner's Association has urged the government to allow them to reopen the restaurants following health guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Imran Hasan, secretary-general of the association, placed a written statement in this regard at a press briefing on Saturday.
"The restaurant sector is one of the most damaged sectors in this pandemic," mentioned the statement.

"Some 30 lakh workers work in 60 thousand restaurants in divisional cities, districts and upazilas. About two crore people are involved in this sector," it added.
The restaurant owners also placed 8-point-demand including allowing restaurants to reopen following health guidelines or allow them to serve maintaining 50 percent capacity.
They urged the government for giving stimulus to the workers of this sector via mobile phone or assist them with food via certain cards.
They also demanded long terms loans with no or little interests from the SME sector as running capital to run their business.
The statement said the authorities should consider the restaurant sector as front liners of the pandemic as this is a service sector and giving instructions to provide vaccines to owners-workers on an emergency basis.
President of the association Osman Gani, First Secretary General Firoz Alam were among the others present at the briefing.
