Please no more, stop the deaths: DRMC teacher
"Please no more, stop the deaths," said former vice principal of Dhaka Residential Model College Ferdous Ara Begum addressing the government.
"I have come here to protest the killings of my children and students. How can so much blood be spilled in a free country?" questioned the teacher who came to take part in a protest programme which was scheduled to be held at National Press Club today (1 August).
The programme could not be held in an organised fashion due to obstruction from law enforcement agencies and Awami League supporters.
The teacher said, "My brothers went to Liberation War, as a sister I did not stay idle, I cooked and fed freedom fighters. People were killed like this during the Liberation War, but why should it happen in a free country?"
She said, "If my child took part in the quota reform protests, they too would have been shot dead. I came here aggrieved by this thought."
Till now 150 people have died in the protests according to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
