Police rescue abandoned infant from Chattogram
Parents identified the baby girl as Manisha after being informed
Police today rescued an infant left abandoned inside a sack from Kazir Dewri area in Chattogram.
The 40-day old baby girl was later identified as Manisha by her parents after they learned about the rescue. The parents are residents of Chatteshwari road in Mehedibug area.
The infant is now undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital and her parents are looking after her.
"We [the police] heard the sound of crying coming off from a sack left in the circuit house area, after a street child informed us about the matter," said Assistant Sub-Inspector Hamidul Islam.
Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of the police station handed over the infant to her parents.
Manisha's mother said she went out for medicine but did not find her after coming back home.
OC Nizam Uddin said the matter is being investigated further.
