Dipu Moni on 4-day fresh remand
The remand hearing is scheduled to be held at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim's court
A Dhaka court today (24 August) placed former social welfare minister Dipu Moni on a four-day fresh remand in a case filed over the killing of Suman Sikdar in the capital's Badda during the recent student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jasim Uddin passed the order in the evening after Dipu Moni was produced in the court.
Earlier in the day, police sought 10-day remand for the former minister.
On 19 August, Dipu Moni was arrested from Baridhara in the capital in connection with the murder of grocery store owner Abu Sayeed in the capital's Mohammadpur.
Former chief whip ASM Feroz on 7-day remand
Another Dhaka court placed former Chief Whip ASM Feroz on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Sohag Mia.
After the hearing a 10-day remand plea by police, the court yesterday granted a seven-day remand for a thorough investigation into the case.
Police arrested Feroz in the Banani area of the capital on 23 August night.
