AL committed mega robbery in name of mega development: Jamaat ameer
The Jamaat chief said the Islami Bank, one of the most reliable banks of the country, was “destroyed” by the AL regime through S Alam Group
Awami League leaders committed "mega robbery" in the name of mega development under Sheikh Hasina's rule, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said today (4 January).
"Bangladesh was their [AL leaders] source of income, and their heart was elsewhere in the world. They built 'Begum Para' abroad with money looted from this country," Shafiqur said while speaking as the chief guest at the Jamaat workers' conference in Kushtia.
"The then prime minister's peon had Tk450 crore in his account. If the peon has so much money, how much does his employer [Hasina] have? Evidence is coming out that her family stole Tk57,000 crore from just one project – the Rooppur nuclear power plant," he added.
The Jamaat chief also said the Islami Bank, one of the most reliable banks of the country, was "destroyed" by the AL regime through S Alam Group.
"One Padma Bridge was built by spending money that could have built four Padma Bridges. Where did the rest of the money go? All the money was smuggled abroad," he added.
Addressing the students at the conference, he said dictatorship has been overthrown in exchange for many sacrifices and hardships, but conspiracies are still going on.
"All conspiracies must be stopped and a non-discriminatory state must be built, where there will be no discrimination between rich or poor, Muslims or Hindus, whites or blacks."
Claiming that Jamaat is committed to upholding the rights of women, he said, "Many people say that if Jamaat comes to power, the women of this country will be in danger; this is false. No one will be forced to wear burqas. Women will be safe while performing duties of the state."
