BNP, Islami Andolan agree on quick, credible polls among 10 points
They also agree to avoid internal conflicts
The BNP and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) have reached a consensus on a 10-point decision, including holding a credible national election in a short time after completing necessary minimum reforms.
"We have agreed on a 10-point issue," said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir after meeting with the Islami Andolan Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim today.
The decisions announced include fostering national unity to establish an independent, sovereign state free from hegemonism, expansionism, and colonialism.
The two parties also agreed on swift trials for corrupt individuals, criminals, and money launderers among other issues.
Besides, they decided to create national consensus on upholding human rights, including the right to vote, and on elections promptly following minimal necessary reforms.
Other resolutions included measures to curb the rising prices of essential goods, ensure the rights of disadvantaged people, and normalise law and order.
They resolved to unite all forces against the "fascist" Awami League, avoid internal conflicts, and work politically to prevent similar "fascist" entities from gaining power in the future.
They also called for the quick removal of fascist accomplices and agreed not to take decisions or make statements opposing Islamic Shariah law.
Earlier, on 21 January, Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and Rezaul Karim had a meeting at the Charmonai Darbar Sharif in Barishal.
The next day, Fakhrul and BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan met with a 9-member delegation of Khelafat Majlish, including its Ameer Moulana Abdul Basit Azad.
