Election can’t happen without reforms that people want: ASM Abdur Rab
He said the ongoing movement for jobs, state reform, and against discrimination is a step towards achieving true independence
The next parliamentary election cannot happen without the necessary reforms which the people of the country want, said Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rab today (16 December).
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the National Memorial in Savar after paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
In response to a question about whether reforms or elections should come first, Rab said, "Did Abu Sayed shed his blood for elections? We certainly want elections, but they cannot happen without reforms. The people of this country want reforms."
He further explained that the ongoing movement for jobs, state reform, and against discrimination is a step towards achieving true independence.
"Victory is not just about political power. It's about ensuring that every Bangalee has access to food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and employment," he said.
Rab concluded his statement with an emotional appeal, urging the people to continue the fight for a better future.
"This is our fight and we must win it," he added.
