'Family cards' for all to ensure food security if BNP comes to power: Tarique
He said the card will be issued in the name of the mother or homemaker of the family
If the BNP comes to power again, the party will ensure food security for each family in the country by providing them with "Family Cards", Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said today (23 September).
"The BNP will take special initiatives with the objective of ensuring food security and mass employment for every citizen," Tarique said, referring to his dream project 'Family Cards', while virtually addressing a Kishoreganj BNP rally at 3pm.
He said the card will be issued in the name of the mother or homemaker of the family.
"On behalf of the state, all citizens will receive the card gradually. Though initially, the underprivileged, especially in rural areas, will be brought under the programme."
The BNP acting chairman also said as the "Family Cards" will be given to everyone, there will be no opportunity to deprive anyone due to any kind of party or political influence.
"A portion of essential food items will be distributed for free through this card and it will be distributed considering the maximum number of family members is four."
He urged all to remain united commenting that, "Even though the dictatorship has fallen, their ghosts are still conspiring."
The rally, organised on the occasion of the fall of dictatorship and the journey to democracy and supporting families of the martyrs of the July revolution and its victims, was also attended by BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan and BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince and other district unit leaders.
