Not our concern whether foreign observers come or not: Home minister
"Those who think that elections will not be fair without foreign observers are wrong," said the home minister.
It is not the government's concern whether foreign election observers will come or not during the upcoming national election of Bangladesh, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday (22 September).
"Those who think that elections will not be fair without foreign observers are wrong. We hope that their misconceptions will soon disappear," Kamal told reporters after inaugurating the Mana-Bay Water Park at Gajaria in Munshiganj.
"We strive to present a free, fair, unbiased election. That election must be held under the impartial Election Commission. The government will provide all the support to the Election Commission," said the minister.
When asked about the massive reshuffle in the law enforcement agencies, he said, "Transfer in the law and order forces is a normal process. There is no chance to think that there have been more transfers due to the upcoming elections."
Awami League Liberation War Affairs Secretary and lawmaker from Munshiganj-3 constituency Mrinal Kanti Das, Dhaka Range DIG of Police Syed Nurul Islam, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Abu Jafar Ripon, and Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Suman Deb were present on the occasion among others.
