BNP-Jamaat supported genocide in Gaza by being silent: Hasan Mahmud
“BNP and Jamaat have become friends of Israel. They have joined hands with Israel,” he said while speaking at a protest rally at central Shaheed Minar as the chief guest.
Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud today called on the people and Islamic parties of the country to resist the BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami accusing them of supporting the 'genocide in Gaza by Israel'.
"Till date, the BNP-Jamaat has not uttered a single word against the Israeli massacres of Palestinians in Gaza. They have stood in favour of this genocide by being silent," the minister said while addressing a protest rally at the central Shaheed Minar as its chief guest.
"Nearly 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza, most of whom are women and children. Hospitals are being attacked, raids are being conducted, and electricity lines of hospitals are being destroyed, due to which many people have died. People waiting for relief were attacked. This is unthinkable in the 21st century. Yet the globalists are silent and the Arab world has not played the role it should have played, in the common man's opinion," Hasan Mahmud said at the rally organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote in protest of Israeli killings in Gaza.
The foreign minister said Bangladesh will reiterate its firm stance in favour of Palestine through Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha made an oral pleading, on behalf of the OIC, at the International Court of Justice where he reviewed the crimes committed by Israel, the occupying authority, against the Palestinian people, in particular, its war in the Gaza Strip.
He also averred that Israel continues to pursue apartheid policy against the Palestinians.
Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said BNP and its acting chairman are facing challenges within the party as they boycotted the last national election following an imposed decision. "There were also efforts to foil the polls."
