South Korea has no political motives in its ties with Bangladesh: Moyeen Khan
He further said there is economic potential between Bangladesh and South Korea
Abdul Moyeen Khan, a BNP standing committee member, has stated that South Korea has no political motives in its relationship with Bangladesh.
"The foundation of the relationship between Bangladesh and South Korea is based on economic matters. South Korea has come forward intending to provide economic cooperation and investment in Bangladesh, so that the people of both countries can benefit," he said during a brief press briefing following a meeting with the South Korean ambassador to Bangladesh at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Dhaka's Gulshan today.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Chairperson's Advisory Council member Tajvirul Islam, and International Affairs Committee member Shama Obaid were present during the meeting.
"We primarily had an open discussion on economic cooperation, investment, the current situation, the student-led mass uprising, and the changes in Bangladesh," Moyeen said. "We also discussed how corruption over the past 17 years has harmed business and trade."
He further said there is economic potential between Bangladesh and South Korea. "We have maintained good relations in the past.
"If the people give the BNP the power to govern the country in the future, we will maintain good relations with South Korea based on economic principles so that the people of both countries can benefit. For the sake of cordiality and development, we will advance our relationship."
