Quake jolts Sylhet, Dhaka, parts of country

Sylhet, one of the most earthquake-prone districts of the country, trembled with an earthquake at 10:32am this morning (3 January). The quake was felt in Dhaka and some parts of the country as well.
Rubayet Kabir, acting officer of BMD's Seismological Research Centre, said the earthquake struck at 10:32am and measured 5.0 on the Richter scale.
"The epicentre was in Myanmar, 482 km from Dhaka. The tremor was felt in Sylhet and nearby regions," he added.
No damage has been reported as of the filing of this report.
The tremor lasted a few seconds, prompting many people to leave their homes and business establishments and rush to the streets.
