Rajshahi City Corporation terminates 159 day labourers, issues show cause notices to 38
The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has terminated 159-day labourers and issued show-cause notices to 38 others.
The actions were taken against them for various allegations, including taking a stance against student and public movements during the anti-discrimination protests.
Additionally, two permanent employees of the city corporation have been temporarily suspended for similar reasons.

Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, divisional commissioner and acting administrator of RCC, issued these directives in several phases between September and November.
Humayun Kabir said, "Temporary employees who failed to act professionally and exhibited behaviour contrary to organisational discipline have been terminated. Some lacked satisfactory job performance. Temporary daily wage employees can be relieved of their duties if their services are no longer needed."
"As for permanent employees, the suspension orders and show cause notices detail the allegations against them. They are required to respond, and further decisions will be made accordingly," he added.
According to RCC sources, between 10 September and 29 October, the corporation terminated 159 day labourers in five phases.
Additionally, the president of the RCC Employees' Union, Dulal Sheikh, and its general secretary, Azmir Ahmed Mamun, were temporarily suspended.
Both are permanent RCC employees and were affiliated with the Awami League.
Besides, the administrator issued show-cause notices to 17 permanent and 21 temporary employees.
Among the permanent staff, 16 received notices on 15 September, while three more were issued notices on 12 November.
For temporary employees, nine were notified on 25 September, and 12 on November. They were asked to respond within 10 working days.
One of the recipients of the show cause notice is RCC's Chief Revenue Officer, Abu Saleh Md Noor-e-Said said, "I have received a letter of complaint. The allegations against me are baseless. I have submitted a written response and have no further comments on the matter."
