Sentence of BNP acting chairman’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman suspended
Zubaida Rahman has to surrender in court, according to the Department of Security Services
The sentence of Dr Zubaida Rahman, the wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has been suspended for one year subject to conditions.
The suspension was given in a notification today (2 October) issued by the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Abu Saeed Mollah.
According to the notification, Dr Zubaida Rahman's petition seeking the suspension was granted on a one-year condition of surrendering and appealing before the relevant court.
Zubaida Rahman has to surrender in court, according to the Department of Security Services.
She received a three-year prison term in connection with a corruption case initiated by the Anti Corruption Commission in 2007.
