Bithika Banik has been relieved from her duty as the provost of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Hall of Rajshahi University.
The matter was confirmed in a notice signed by the acting Registrar Professor MA Bari.
"Bithika Banik from the department of Sanskrit has been relieved from her duties as the provost for the best interest of the University," the notice said.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, acting Registrar Professor MA Bari said residential teacher Anjuman Ara has been temporarily appointed as the new provost for the Fazilatunnesa hall.
Students of the university have been demanding the resignation of the provost over the allegation of sexual harassment of a female student at her residence from Thursday.
