Final list of martyrs, injured released
The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation has provided financial assistance amounting to TK47.33 crore to 2,229 families affected by the July movement, including those of martyrs and injured individuals.
This update was shared at a press conference at the Foundation's office in Shahbagh, Dhaka today (1 January).
Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, the Foundation's CEO, announced, "Financial support began on 1 October. To date, we've received TK109.2 crore, of which TK47.33 crore has been disbursed. The remaining TK61 crore is still with the Foundation."
The assistance has benefited 2,229 families, including those of 628 martyrs and 1,601 injured individuals.
Meanwhile, the first-phase final list of those who were martyred or injured during the students-people's uprising in July has been published on the official website.
Those who were affected during this period but have not been included in the first-phase list are invited to submit their applications for consideration with necessary documents, said a health ministry handout.
Sarjis Alam, the Foundation's general secretary, highlighted that, according to the Health Ministry's MIS, there are currently 826 martyrs, with assistance having been provided to 628 families, while 198 families are yet to receive aid.
Alam also updated the number of injured individuals, stating that 11,306 people were injured during the movement, with financial aid reaching 1,601 of them.
He explained delays in providing assistance, citing challenges in verifying the lists from district administrations, noting that some injured individuals were not involved in the protests.
