Strike at petrol pumps in 3 divisions from Sunday
All petrol pumps of these three divisions will not operate during the strike
Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners-Workers Unity Council will go on an indefinite strike in three divisions - Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur - from tomorrow to press their demands including increasing commission on oil sale.
"We are going on this indefinite strike to press home our 15-point demands," said Mizanur Rahman, the convener of Rajshahi division unit of the council and also the secretary-general of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners' Association, told the Business Standard on Saturday.
Their demands include increasing commissions on petrol sales to at least 7 percent, raising fares of tank-lorries, cancellation of land lease system by the Roads and Highways Department, among others.
"All petrol pumps of these three divisions will not operate during the strike," Mizanur added.
