Users can dial codes to stop promotional SMSs
Anyone unwilling to receive promotional SMSs can dial shortcodes and activate the “Do Not Disturb (DND)” service.
Mobile phone users themselves can stop receiving annoying promotional Short Message Service (SMS) by dialling specific codes, reads a notice issued by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Saturday.
Anyone unwilling to receive promotional SMSs can dial shortcodes and activate the "Do Not Disturb (DND)" service.
To activate the service, Grameenphone users have to dial *121*1101#, Banglalink users *121*8*6# and Robi and Airtel users *7#, said the BTRC notice.
The DND service to stop promotional SMSs had been in place for several years but the customers have not been using it much.
The BTRC published the notice on the issue again as promotional SMSs have been proved to be a reason for nuisance, reads the notice.
