Touhid urges China to set electric vehicle plant in Bangladesh
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, currently on an official visit to China, today urged Chinese automobile companies to consider establishing an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Bangladesh.
He made the call while visiting a high-tech electric vehicle manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Shanghai, which produces approximately 500 EV units daily, the foreign ministry said in a press release.
Later, the foreign adviser also met with the acting mayor of Shanghai and underlined the need for enhanced business to business and people to people engagements between Dhaka and Shanghai.
The acting mayor extended an invitation to Bangladesh to participate at the "Shanghai Tourism Festival" to be held this year.
Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain also exchanged views with a delegation from the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce yesterday evening.
During the discussion, they focused on relocation of Chinese manufacturing plants to Bangladesh, particularly to the Chinese Special Economic Zone in Chattogram and establishing air connectivity between Chattogram and Shanghai.
