DMTCL forms probe committee to inspect metro rail glitch
The 7-member committee will also propose possible steps to avert such a situation in the future, said an office order by DMTCL
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has formed a probe committee to find out the reasons behind the glitch that halted metro rail services yesterday (18 September).
The 7-member committee will also propose possible steps to avert such a situation in the future, said an office order by DMTCL.
Metro rail services witnessed a temporary shutdown on the Agargaon-Motijheel portion yesterday due to the displacement of the bearing of a viaduct. It took 11 hours of intense effort to resume the services from Agargaon to Motijheel. Before that metro rail was being operated from Uttara to Agargaon.
The bearing of a viaduct of the metro rail fell apart in front of Islamia Eye Hospital at Khamarbari intersection around 9:40am. The issue was fixed and metro rail services resumed completely around 8:25pm, the office order said.
According to the office order, a 7-member committee has been formed to inquire about the reasons behind the glitch.
Director (Planning and Development) of DMTCL Md Abdul Baki Mia has been made the convener of the probe committee.
