Freight train derails in Brahmanbaria
A freight train derailed when two wheels of one of the train's carriages went off-track in Brahmanbaria, disrupting rail services.
The incident occurred at around 11:45am today (20 November) at Chotohoron in the Sadar Upazila along the Dhaka-Chattogram railway line.
Brahmanbaria Railway Station Master Md Jasim Uddin said, "The Dhaka-bound freight train derailed at Chotohoron, causing the disruption. Upon receiving the news, a rescue train from Akhaura was dispatched to the site."
Rail communication between Dhaka and Chattogram, as well as Sylhet, via the uplink, has been suspended due to the derailment.
"Train operations on the uplink will resume once the rescue operations are completed," added Jasim Uddin.
