The government is conducting training programmes to ensure the supply of skilled workers to the international labour market in the post-novel-coronavirus period, Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad has said.
He stated this while addressing a view exchange programme at Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital city on Wednesday, said a press release.
The minister said different initiatives have been taken during the Covid-19 pandemic for the welfare of migrant workers as well as their families. More initiatives will be taken in the coming days in this regard, he added.
Minister Imran specifically mentioned that a specialised Technical Training Center is being set up in Manikganj to produce modern and practically-skilled workers.
Noting that concerted efforts are crucial in the development of the immigration sector, Imran Ahmad called upon all stakeholders to step forward for the development of the sector.
The programme was organised by Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) to mark International Migrants Day.
President of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies , Benazir Ahmed and Secretary to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin addressed the programme as special guests.
The event was presided over by BOESL Managing Director Md Saiful Hasan Badal.
