Workers deprived of fair remuneration for 15 years: Debapriya
Workers have been deprived of their fair share in the last 15 years, said Debapriya Bhattacharya, head of the committee to prepare a white paper.
They also did not get proper remuneration and other benefits, factories remained closed but no action was taken, said the economist while talking to reporters following a meeting of the white paper committee with the labor leaders at the Planning Commission at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of the capital today (30 September).
They were deprived of all fruits of development, he added.
On 28 August, a 12-member committee was formed for the preparation of a comprehensive "white paper" on the state of Bangladesh's economy.
The "white paper" will outline strategic recommendations aimed at stabilising the economy, achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and addressing the challenges faced by Bangladesh as it transitions from the least developed country (LDC) status.
