‘Youths must take risks to survive in competition’
Bangabandhu Innovation Grant, a programme marking Bangabandh’s birth centenary, will organise reality shows for startups
The youths of the country need to be skilled in new ideas and must have a mentality to take on risks in order to survive in competition, said Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, the deputy minister for education.
The deputy minister also stressed the importance of moving forward using technology to establish a knowledge-based economy in line with an industrial organisation-based economy. This will reduce environmental pollution in Bangladesh, and create a new entrepreneurial role in the country's overall economy, he added.
He was addressing an event titled "Startup Chattogram Incubation for Aspiring, Technopreneurs and Innovators" as the chief guest at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View hotel on Saturday, organised by Startup Chattogram.

Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury also called on startups to create new content in the field of education.
Anik Barua hosted the event which featured the following speakers Mujibul Haque, project director, Idea Project, ICT Division; RHM Alaul Kabir, special consultant; and Arafatul Islam Akib, Founder and CEO, Startup Chattogram.
In his speech, Mujibul Haque said, "Marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a programme of Bangabandhu Innovation Grant has been undertaken. A reality show is being organised for the startups under this programme."
The government is providing financial grants to startups to implement new ideas, he added.
Sourav Islam, founder of Pharma Market Asia Agro Tech; Tanjir Abedin, CEO of Life Coach Bangladesh; Taimur Rahman, director of Mostafa Group; Chowdhury Yamin Anam, joint convener of the ICT Sub Committee of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others, were present at the event.
