Atlas starts assembling TVS motorcycles
Atlas Bangladesh Limited will supply 20,000-25,000 motorcycles to TVS Auto Bangladesh Limited a year
Atlas Bangladesh Limited on Tuesday launched the operation of a new motorcycle assembling plant in Tongi of Gazipur.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun inaugurated the plant at a programme on the company's premises.
Established at a cost of Tk3.64 crores, the plant is capable of assembling 200 TVS motorcycles daily.

Earlier in May 2018, the state-owned company inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TVS Auto Bangladesh Limited for working as corporate partners.
Atlas will supply 20,000-25,000 motorcycles to TVS Auto every year after fulfilling its own market demand.
TVS Auto will pay a charge for assembling each motorbike.
The industries minister said the government has taken an initiative to reopen old and closed factories in the sixties.
The minister further said employment opportunities will be created for the youth by making these factories profitable.
At the programme, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder urged Atlas to increase its production capacity to cut dependency on imports.
He said the company should have to attain the capability of producing all components of motorcycle.
He asked the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) to undertake a project to set up a new factory on unused land of the Atlas Bangladesh.
The state minister also said that no corruption will be tolerated in his ministry. Strict action will be taken against corrupt persons.
Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Md Jahangir Alam assured all-out support in making Atlas Bangladesh Limited profitable.
BSEC Chairman Sheikh Mizanur Rahman presided over the programme. Atlas Managing Director ANM Kamrul Islam, Atlas's Workers' Union President Md Mujibur Rahman and senior officials of BSEC were, among others, present.
