Insurance Association re-elects Sheikh Kabir as President
He has been leading the association for the last 11 years
Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) re-elected Sheikh Kabir Hossain as its president for 2021-2022. Nasir Uddin Ahmed was elected as the first vice-president and A K M Monirul Hoque was re-elected as the vice-president.
Election of the association's executive committee for the year 2021-2022 was held virtually on 9 April 2021.
Vice Principal Dr Abdus Shahid, MP, chairman, Chartered Life Insurance was the Chairman of the Election Commission. The other two members were M G Quddus, chairman of Rupali Insurance and Nizam Uddin Ahmed, chairman, Meghna Life and Karnaphuly Insurance Company.
Sheikh Kabir Hossain has been serving as President of BIA for the last 11 years. He is the chairman of non-life insurer Sonar Bangla Insurance Company Ltd.
He is the Ex-Chairman of Red Crescent Society and Bangladesh Human Rights Council, Member of Privatization Commission and Member of Board of Governors, Bangladesh Open University.
He is closely related to Lions Club and had been International Director of Lions Club. He is the Chairman of the Private University Association, Sonar Bangla Capital Management, CDBL and Trustee Board of Far East international University.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed is the Vice-Chairman of Meghna Life and Karnaphuli Insurance Co. Ltd. He is also the Director of the Nizam-Hasina Foundation. He has been rendering his service as a Member of BIA, a committee member of different committees formed by IDRA and FID.
He is also a Member-Director of FBCCI and was the Chairman of the Standing Committee of FBCCI formed for Insurance. He is the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Midtown.
AKM Monirul Hoque is the Chairman of Nitol Insurance Company. He started his business career in 1982. He has obtained a Post Graduate Degree from the Business Faculty of Dhaka University. He has completed his ACCA Part-1 from the UK. He is the General member of FBCCI, IBCCI and MCCI.
