REHAB donates Tk25 lakh to govt for buying coronavirus kits
Rehab President on Wednesday handed over a cheque for Tk25 lakh to State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid
The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has donated Tk25 lakh to the government for buying coronavirus diagnostic test kits.
REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin Kajal on Wednesday handed over a cheque for Tk25 lakh to Nasrul Hamid, state minister for power, energy and mineral resources, said a press release.
Pointing out that the coronavirus has already spread around the world and it is now a pandemic, Kajal at the cheque handover ceremony said, "We are also going through a crisis as the virus has already spread throughout Bangladesh."
He urged everyone to join hands to contain the spread of the virus without only waiting for government measures during the crisis period.
At the same time, the REHAB president urged all to stay at home following the directives of the government.
Bangladesh on Wednesday confirmed the fifth death from the novel coronavirus. The deceased was a 65-year-old man.
According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), there are 47 patients in isolation units of different hospitals and 47 are in institutional quarantine.
Eighty two suspected patients were tested for the virus in the last 24 hours but none of them were tested positive.
Among 794 persons tested so far in the country, 39 were found to have been infected.
The IEDCR confirmed the first death from the coronavirus on March 18.
