26 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,488 fresh cases

Bangladesh reported 26 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till early Tuesday.
The country's death toll from the virus stood at 5,219 and death rate at 1.44% at that time, reads a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the past 24 hours, 1,488 people tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 362,043.
The latest daily infection rate was 11.56%, while the overall rate stood at 18.72%.
And 12,869 samples were tested in 106 labs across the country over the same period. So far 1,934,251 samples have been tested.
Of the deceased, 21 were men and five women. Sixteen of them were from Dhaka division, five from Chattogram, two each from Khulna and Sylhet, and one from Rajshahi.
However, the number of recovered patients reached 273,698, including 1,625 new ones in the last 24 hours, and the recovery rate rose to 75.60%.
So far, 4,039 men and 1,180 women have died from Covid-19 across the country.
And 2,607 victims were from Dhaka division, 1,073 from Chattogram, 435 from Khulna, 341 from Rajshahi, 237 from Rangpur, 230 from Sylhet, 187 from Barishal, and 109 from Mymensingh.
The country first detected Covid-19 cases on March 8 this year and reported the first death from the virus on March 18.
