296 physicians vaccinated on Thursday
A total of 581 people were inoculated as the vaccination drive started in five hospitals in the capital
A total of 296 physicians among 581 people were inoculated as the country kicked off its pilot Covid-19 vaccination programme on Thursday.
The vaccination drive began in five hospitals in the capital. The hospitals are- Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda Medical College and Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
The VIPs who took doses of Covid-19 vaccine include KM Khalid, state minister of cultural affairs; Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for information and communication technology; Kanak Kanti Barua, vice-chancellor of the BSMMU; Abdul Mannan, secretary of the health and family welfare ministry, and secretaries of the Ministry of Information.
According to the gender breakdown, 431 men and 110 women received vaccine shots.
Some 32 nurses were also vaccinated.
