Although several officials were infected with Covid-19, they did not follow any hygiene rules
Kurigram Sadar Upazila administration on Sunday locked down a branch of Agrani Bank and Islami Bank Bangladesh in the upazila after several officials of the branches were tested Covid-19 positive.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and president of Upazila Covid-19 Committee Moinul Islam said seven of the officials of Islami Bank have been tested positive while another six are waiting to get test results. As a result, we have decided to lock down the branch to avoid risks to customers.
The district branch of Agrani Bank has also been locked down after five employees were tested positive while another five have submitted samples for test.
Sadar upazila health and planning officer Nazrul Islam said, "I along with the UNO have visited two branches on Sunday morning. Although several officials were infected with Covid-19, they did not follow any hygiene rules. Even the two branches did not have any facility for the customers for washing hands."
"We will allow running the banks after reviewing the results. Moreover, they have to ensure they follow the guidelines of hygiene," he added.
