Bangladesh Police Service Association objects to disrespectful conduct by a physician with magistrate and policemen

The Bangladesh Police Service Association has said that it had reviewed the incident that occurred on Sunday on the capital's Elephant Road when a physician showed disrespect to an on-duty executive magistrate and policemen after they asked for her identity card to verify her identity.

After reviewing the incident, it has been found that the way she had behaved is not at all acceptable from a professional and conscious citizen. She not only insulted the policemen present there but also demeaned the entire police department, which is evident to the media, reads a press release issued by the association.

Moreover, she behaved arrogantly with the magistrate and police members as well as tried to bring professional organisations face to face, the media release added.

Although the notice issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on 14 April asks health workers and other professionals to mandatorily carry their identity cards, she did not do that, which violates the directive of the ministry she belongs to, the press release claimed.

The press release also said that she had hurled impolite words at the policemen during the altercation.

The Bangladesh Police Service Association expresses its gratitude to doctors, nurses and other health workers for their services to people affected bye Covid-19 during these pandemic times.

However, every policeman in the country has been hurt by the unprofessional behaviour of the physician and the police association severely condemns it. It also demands a departmental enquiry against her for violating the directives of the health department.
