Coronavirus: 2,778 Armed Forces members in service, retired infected

A total of 2,788 members of Armed Forces both in-service and retired, their families, and civilians and others, who are employed in various organisations under the Armed Forces, have been infected with coronavirus till Sunday.
Among them, 2,057 are members of Armed Forces both in service and retired, 188 members of their families and rest 543 are civilians and others, who are employed in various organisations under the Armed Forces.
Of them, 1,310 infected patients are being treated at various combined military hospitals (CMHs), while 1,461 have fully recovered and they returned home after recovery and 17 have died. All of the under-treatment patients are healthy, said Rashedul Alam Khan, Assistant Director of Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate.
Among those who died, 14 are retired and aged over 60 years and three are serving military and civilian members of Armed Forces. All of them were suffering from various complications, he said.
There are 13 RT-PCR machines at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and CMHs of other cantonments for coronavirus testing of members of the Armed Forces both in-service and retired, their families. Besides, adequate number of PPEs, masks, gloves and necessary medicine are in stock in all CMHs.
A total of 17,378 samples have been tested in PCR labs of 10,378 members of the Armed Force, 2,120 families and 4,653 civilians and others till Sunday. Full-time trained physicians of the Army have been ensuring treatment of COVID-19 patients maintaining all health guidelines of the Health Ministry.
