DGHS to collect coronavirus samples instead of IEDCR
IEDCR will only be involved with the research and quality control
Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) will no longer collect samples from potential Covid-19 patients.
From now on, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will collect the samples. IEDCR will only be involved with the research and quality control.
"IEDCR will no longer go door to door to collect samples for coronavirus testing. The institute will work on controlling quality," Principal Scientific Officer of IEDCR A S M Almir told The Business Standard.
"The institute may still collect some samples. But those will be collected as a part of the epidemiological survey," he added.
DGHS will collect samples and send them to different laboratories for testing, he further said.
The previous 17 teams will go door to door to collect samples. But they will work under the supervision of DGHS, instead of IEDCR. All the existing hotline numbers will remain operational.
