Doctors, health workers asked to carry ID cards
On Wednesday, April 14, the first day of the seven-day lockdown, several doctors complained of being harassed on their way to perform their professional duties
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has instructed physicians and health workers to carry an institutional identity card when going to work to provide emergency healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic.
"All the health workers including doctors and nurses of the health directorate and all the health institutions and hospitals under it and all the officials and employees involved in other emergency healthcare or medical services are required to use the official identity card (ID card) in the lockdown situation," read a DGHS press release on Thursday.
It further said, "Many people are being harassed in various ways even after showing their official identity cards while traveling for official activities and providing medical services, which is by no means desirable. In order to ensure the health care of the people, all concerned, including the law enforcement agencies, have been specially requested to cooperate in the overall journey to the workplace."
