Latest day’s Covid infection rate highest in 10 days
The virus caused 19 deaths in the last 24 hours till Friday 8am

The coronavirus infection rate in the past 24 hours till Friday 8am was 13.05% which is the highest in 10 days in Bangladesh, according to the latest government data.
During this time, 1,767 people tested positive for Covid-19 out of 13,539 samples.
The overall Covid-19 infection rate, however, has stood at 17.05%, with 428,965 people having contracted coronavirus so far.
Apart from the infected, 19 people died of Covid-19 in these 24 hours. Including them, the country registered 6,159 deaths in total from the disease, and the death rate was 1.44%.
Of the deceased, 13 were men and six were women, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services. All of them died in different hospitals.
Thirteen of them were residents of Dhaka while three of Rangpur and one each was of Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims so far showed that men were three times more likely to get infected than women.
Moreover, 1,519 patients recovered from Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 346,387 with a recovery rate of 80.75%.
In the last 24 hours, 791 people were placed in quarantine, bringing the total put in quarantine to 39,414 across the country. And 187 suspected patients were taken into isolation in one day. With them, 12,113 people were staying in isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8, and 10 days later, the first death caused by the virus was reported.
The world has stepped into the tenth month of the pandemic. Till filing of this report, the virus infected more than 5.3 crore people and caused death to over 12 lakh people globally.
