Liberation War Affairs Minister's wife dies from Covid-19
She breathed her last at around 7:45 am at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka while undergoing treatment there
Laila Arjumand Banu, wife of Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, died from Covid-19 infection today.
She was 71.
Senior information officer of the ministry Sufi Abdullahil Maruf confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
He said, "She breathed her last at around 7:45 am at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka while undergoing treatment there."
On June 13, Minister AKM Mozammel Haque and his wife Laila Arjumand Banu were admitted to the CMH after they tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.
The minister went home after being recovered from the virus on June 22. However, his wife were undergoing treatment there and died today morning.
Laila Arjumand Banu was born in an aristocratic Muslim family in Gazipur on January 6, 1949. She got married to AKM Mozammel Haque in 1973.
She is survived by two daughters, a son, six grandchildren and innumerable admirers.
Her Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the ground adjacent to the central graveyard in Gazipur after the Asr prayer.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of the Laila Arjumand Banu.
They prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
