Marico, FBCCI distributing food among 5,000 families in Gazipur
Earlier, Marico Bangladesh donated Tk50 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund to help curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
The low-income people in the country are hit hard by the countrywide shutdown due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
During the time of this humanitarian crisis, Marico Bangladesh Limited and the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) have jointly taken an initiative to provide food relief for 5000 low-income families in Sreepur and Kaliakair Upazilas of Gazipur, said a press release on Thursday.
Starting from Thursday, the relief programme will continue throughout the month. Each relief packet includes rice, lentils, oil, salt, and other necessary food items.
Ashish Goupal, managing director at Marico Bangladesh said, "We are operating factories at Sreepur and Kaliakair for a long time. We have a responsibility towards local communities who need help.
He thanked the local administration and the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries for their efforts in this initiative.
Sheikh Fazle Fahim, President at Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries said, "FBCCI appreciates this initiative by Marico to stand beside the people of Gazipur. We believe this initiative will inspire others to come forward during this crisis.

Additionally, the company also launched hand sanitizers and handwash in the Bangladesh market which are being sold on a zero-profit basis.
