Mashrafe lauds Nagad’s initiatives for fighting Covid-19

Bangladesh Post Office's digital financial service Nagad has initiated various humanitarian steps for the country's people during the countrywide shutdown to prevent the coronavirus pandemic. 

Praising such initiatives, former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team and Member of Parliament Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has pledged to work together with the Nagad, said a press release on Sunday.

To stand beside the country's people in the time of the Covid-19 outbreak, Nagad has slashed its advertisement budget to decrease transaction costs. 

It also implemented many steps for giving its customers a seize of relief such as deducting no charge for cashing out of first Tk1000 and taking no settlement charge for essential commodity and medicine. 

Besides, the employees of the company are distributing food and essential goods among destitute people in as many as 492 upazilas of the country. 

Under the slogan that "If the people survive today, the country will thrive tomorrow," the company is carrying out of this initiative. 

Mashrafe, one of the most popular cricketers in the country, posted a selfie video praising the initiatives of Nagad after being informed of such steps through newspapers. 

"I have found that Nagad has slashed its advertising budget for the wellbeing of the country's people, meaning that Nagad is not focusing only on its business, it also thinks about the people during this crisis," Mashrafe wrote. 

"Nagad is a government entity and that it belongs to me, you and all. So we all should come up with such initiatives taken by it."

"I want to tell like Nagad that, "If people survive today, the country will thrive tomorrow," the former captain said.

Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk, managing director of Nagad said, "We hope our beloved Mashrafe Bin Mortaza would stand beside Nagad, and we together will take more initiatives further for the betterment of the country's people."
