Miller pays tribute to journos for their sacrifices during Covid-19 pandemic
'We honor all journalists, everywhere, who have sacrificed their lives, freedom and personal well-being in pursuit of truth and justice.', said Miller
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller paid tribute to journalists who have been working tirelessly in stressful and dangerous conditions to provide information to the public during this Covid-19 global pandemic.
"We honor all journalists, everywhere, who have sacrificed their lives, freedom and personal well-being in pursuit of truth and justice." he said in a press release issued today marking World Press Freedom Day.
Acknowledging the efforts of journos in Bangladesh, Miller said, "The work of journalists, photojournalists, and media outlets often comes with sacrifice, including here in Bangladesh."
The US envoy also honored the sacrifices of senior journalist Humayun Kabir Khokon, the first journalist who died of coronavirus in Bangladesh.
"We honor the life of Humayan Kabir Khokon, a senior journalist who worked until the day of his death and posthumously tested positive for the virus", the release said.
The envoy also sent their sincere condolences to Mr Khokon's family for their loss.
