Another policeman has died from coronavirus infection, at Chattogram General Hospital on May 22, taking the death toll from Covid-19 among law enforcers to 14.
The deceased Nekbar Hossain, 42, hailed from Charfashion upazila of Bhola. He was working as a constable with Halishahar police station under Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
After Nekabar died on Saturday with Covid-19 symptoms, his sample was sent for diagnostic testing. The test result that came out on May 24 revealed the reason behind his death as coronavirus infection.

Around 3,574 members of Bangladesh Police are still infected with the novel coronavirus, including 178 newly diagnosed officers on May 23.
Some 722 officials of the Bangladesh Police have recovered from Covid-19, according to data provided by the Police Headquarters.
