Starving birds surround traffic police for food
The traffic sergeant rushed to a nearby grocery store, bought some rice and chanachur and gave those to the birds
A group of shalik birds came chirping around traffic sergeant Mrityunjay Biswas when he was doing his duty in Chuadanga's Boro Bazar Shaheed Minar area on Monday afternoon.
It took him by surprise. But soon he came to realise that the birds were starving in absence of food because shops and restaurants remained closed amid the district-wide lockdown to curb the novel coronavirus spread.
The traffic sergeant rushed to a nearby grocery store, bought some rice and chanachur and gave those to the birds. Meanwhile, being informed, hundred others joined the feast.

"All the shops are closed during the lockdown. That is why the birds are not getting any food," Mrityunjay told The Business Standard.
He also said that he has an undeniable love towards birds. He keeps them as pets in his house from his childhood.
"I gave them some food for the first day when I went there for work. That is why they flew towards me at the moment I stepped there today," he added.
"A human can ask for help if he is desperately in need of food. But animals cannot speak our language," Mrityunjay said, urging everyone to be kind enough to feed animals during the crisis.
