7 special flights cancelled at Dhaka airport
On the first day of the beginning of the special flights, a total of 14 flights were scheduled to take off and land
Seven special flights of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been cancelled on Saturday due to not getting permission and lack of passengers.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan said, "Hopefully the problem will be solved within Sunday and the number of flights will increase."
On the first day of the beginning of the special flights, a total of 14 flights were scheduled to take off and land.
The first flight, bound for Riyadh, was to leave at 6:15 am on Saturday and passengers arrived six hours prior as per the directions of the airlines. Later, the passenger demonstrated anger over the cancelled flight.
Asim Uddin, a Saudi-bound worker from Feni, said, "My flight was at 2.50 pm today to Dammam and I reached around 9 am here at the airport. But after coming here, we were informed that all Saudi-bound flights got cancelled."
"The authority did not tell us anything about the next flights. If they had informed us before, we would not have suffered by coming here amid lockdown," he added.
