Another 250kg wartime bomb found at Dhaka airport's 3rd terminal
The bomb is being taken to Rasulpur Firing Range in Paharkanchanpur with the necessary precaution
A 250-kg wartime bomb has been found at a construction site of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka today.
Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan, director of the airport, said the bomb was found when workers were digging a hole for piling at the construction site after 9am.
On information, members of the Air Force's Bomb Disposal Unit went to the spot and identified it as a general purpose or GP bomb.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate published a press release in this regard which said the authorities Air Force Base - Bangabandhu's Bomb Disposal Unit, who came to the scene confirmed it was a bomb and defused it.
Experts assumed that the bomb was dropped during the Liberation War in 1971.
The bomb was taken to Rasulpur Firing Range in Paharkanchanpur with the necessary precaution.
Earlier, on 9 December, another cylinder-like bomb of same weight was discovered at the construction site of the third terminal.
