Every possible step being taken to ensure safety in Bangladesh's airspace: CAAB chairman
Every possible step is being taken to ensure the highest standards of safety in our airspace as the world has experienced tragic aviation disasters one after another in recent months, said Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, chairman, of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh today (8 January).
"I had not wished to end this session in a somber mood but as we have seen the last week of the last year experiencing tragic aviation disasters one after another. reminding us about the importance of being vigilant on the impending risks that await us every day," said the CAAB chairman in a discussion Session at the CAAB auditorium where local airlines representatives showcased their safety strategy.
"We understand the concerns and anxieties of the public, and I would like to assure you that every possible step is being taken to ensure the highest standards of safety in our airspace," he added.
"Together, we will continue to strive for a safer and more secure aviation environment," he said.
"Aviation safety is of paramount importance to us and we note that in a fast-growing aviation industry the importance of mitigating aviation risks is becoming even more challenging. These safety risks need to be addressed proactively to ensure that this significant expansion is carefully managed and supported through strategic regulation and infrastructure," he added.
He urged the airlines to bring a just culture to facilitate the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS).
"We are sure that our combined efforts will have positive impact on achieving a clear consensus on Zero Fatalities in commercial operations by 2030 and beyond, to achieve and maintain the ICAO Global Aspirational Safety Goal," he added.
As the accountable executive of the State Safety Programme (SSP), he encouraged all to report any safety incident without fear so that the authority could take proactive safety measures.
