US-Bangla launches direct flight on Dhaka-Jeddah route
The flights will depart from Dhaka daily at 5:15pm for Jeddah and land in Jeddah at 9:10pm local time. It will again leave from Jeddah at 11:10 pm and land at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:55am
US-Bangla Airlines has started direct flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the gateway to the holy city of the Muslim Ummah.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan today (1 August) officially announced the inauguration of the Dhaka-Jeddah flight at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. The new route will feature a 436-seat Airbus 330-300 operating daily between Dhaka and Jeddah.
The flights will depart from Dhaka daily at 5:15pm for Jeddah and land in Jeddah at 9:10pm local time. It will again leave from Jeddah at 11:10 pm and land at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:55am.
However, today's flight departed at 5:35pm with full passengers.
At the inauguration ceremony, the minister said, "The main objective of the government is to provide better services to the people and at the right price. We will sit with everyone to take the aviation sector forward and try to solve their problems. We will also ensure passenger service."
He also said, "There has been a silent revolution in the country's aviation industry in the last 15 years. During this period, there has been a lot of development work in various airports, including the construction of new terminals, and increasing the strength and length of the runway. But we have much more work to do. The aviation industry is technology-based industry. Here things have to be done consistently."
Thanking all the airlines of the country, Faruk Khan said, "I thank every airline for running operations and serving the passengers in the unstable situation created in the country during the recent movement. I also thank the Civil Aviation Authority. We hope that they will continue to provide such services in the future.
"I inaugurated US-Bangla Airlines in 2014, I am inaugurating Dhaka-Jeddah route today, it is a great pleasure for me. I hope US-Bangla Airlines will expand its fleet and move forward by expanding international routes," he added.
The minimum fare from Dhaka to Jeddah including tax and surcharge is Tk53,189 one way and Tk90,718 return fare. Besides, the minimum one-way fare from Jeddah to Dhaka is 793 Saudi Riyals and the return fare is 1,486 Saudi Riyals. Passengers from Dhaka will be able to carry free baggage up to 30kg to Jeddah and 50kg from Jeddah to Dhaka.
US-Bangla Airlines has started direct flights from Dhaka to the holiest city of Jeddah to fulfil the latent desire of devout Muslims of Bangladesh to perform Umrah Hajj after a long wait, reads the release.
Besides, US-Bangla Airlines will ensure that remittance fighters can travel from Saudi Arabia to any destination within Bangladesh in the shortest possible time.
Currently, US-Bangla Airlines fleet has 24 aircraft including two Airbus 330-300, and nine Boeing 737-800. Currently, US-Bangla Airlines operates flights to Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Doha, Male, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Chennai and Kolkata routes in addition to all domestic routes.
