The decision came after the government relaxed strict coronavirus restrictions for a week from Thursday
Bangladesh Bank has extended the transaction hours in banks till 4pm from Thursday to help clients complete their banking activities smoothly ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Meanwhile, the central bank has asked banks to keep their branches of the garment industry open for two more days on 17 and 20 July from 10am to 2pm.
However, Banks will remain operational on a limited scale after Eid from 25 July to 5 August as the government announced a 14-day strict lockdown from 23 July to stem the coronavirus infection.
During the post-Eid lockdown, customers will be allowed to enjoy banking services from 10am to 1.30pm.
Employees will stay at offices till 3pm to complete post-transaction activities.
The central bank has also instructed the banks to make arrangements for transportation of its employees during the restrictions.
