Mohammad Abu Jafar made DBL’s additional MD
He was promoted by the board for guiding the bank in achieving substantial and consistent growth
Mohammad Abu Jafar has recently been promoted to the post of Additional Managing Director (AMD) of Dhaka Bank Ltd.
Before that, he was serving as a Deputy Managing Director (international banking) of the bank, according to a press release issued by the bank.
Abu Jafar joined Dhaka Bank on 5 August 2015. Since then, he has made a significant contribution on the business development of the bank, especially in the following sectors: Ready Made Garment (RMG) financing, enrichment of offshore banking, treasury business, and foreign trade financing international business.
He has also played a big role in improving Dhaka Bank's overall operational control functionalities.

Jafar has 30 years' experience in the banking sector. Before joining Dhaka Bank Ltd. (DBL), he was a Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) and Branch Manager at the National Bank Ltd. He started his professional journey in 1990 with Uttara Bank Limited as a probationary officer. Afterwards, he joined National Bank Ltd in 2006 as a Senior Vice President (SVP).
In both Uttara Bank and National Bank, he worked as a Manager of AD Branches for more than 15 years. He was also awarded several incentives and awards for his outstanding performance and profit-enhancing contribution in both banks.
Jafar comes from a respectable family in Chattogram. He obtained BSS with Honours and MSS in Economics from the University of Chattogram. He has also obtained a diploma from Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (DAIBB).
Throughout his career, he has attended different banking programs, training, seminars, and symposium both at home and abroad.
