Buyers happy with declining winter vegetable prices
Most of them are being sold between Tk30 and Tk50 per kg
An unrestrained supply of winter vegetables to Dhaka city's kitchen markets has brought smiles to buyers' faces as prices have significantly fallen.
Vegetable prices are now going down considerably and most of them are being sold between Tk30 and Tk50 per kg.
Buyers are happy with the price while vendors are also happy about higher sales, a trader at the Mohammadpur Krishi Market told BSS today (24 January).
Radishes are being sold at Tk30 per kg, beans at Tk40, potatoes at Tk30-35, tomatoes at Tk40 per kg, and cauliflower and cabbage are being sold at Tk20-30 per piece in different markets.
Cucumbers are being sold at Tk40 per kg, carrots at Tk50, green chilli at Tk50 per kg, papayas at Tk40, bitter gourd at Tk50, four pieces of lemon at Tk30, and gourd at Tk50-70 per piece.
Abdul Wahab, a regular shopper at Mirpur-6 kitchen market, said, "It is very comfortable to buy vegetables now compared to other times of the year."
Locally produced onions are being sold at Tk50 per kg while the price of Indian onions is Tk60 per kg.
Another buyer at Segunbagicha said vegetables are now among the cheapest items in the market. "Buyers like us can now buy vegetables according to their choice."
