Mirpur trader fined Tk1 lakh for not selling eggs at govt set rate
A raid of the consumers' rights protection found that the trader was selling eggs at Tk15 each, which he had purchased for Tk11 per piece
A trader in the Lalmatia tempo stand area of Mirpur's Kalshi was fined Tk1 lakh for not selling eggs at the rate set by the government.
During a raid of the Directorate of National Consumers' Rights Protection (DNCRP), it was found that the trader was selling eggs at Tk15 each, which he had purchased for Tk11 per piece.
It was also found the shop, Rifat Enterprise Diamond Egg, was not maintaining proper cash memos for egg purchases and sales, nor did it display a price list.
As per the Consumer Rights Protection Act of 2009, a public announcement was made, and the remaining eggs were sold to the customers present at a government rate of Tk11.87 per piece.
The operation was led by Abdul Jabbar Mandal, assistant director of the Dhaka District Office of the directorate.
