Continue reserve allocation of Tk100cr for women entrepreneurs: BWCCI
The chamber also suggested setting a personal income tax limit for women at Tk4 lakh
The Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) has strongly recommended continuing the reserve allocation of Tk100 crore for the development of women entrepreneurship through training and employment in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2020-21.
Besides, the chamber suggested setting personal income tax limit for women at Tk4 lakh. And after the Covid-19 situation improves, VAT and Tax should be waived for the first six months after the resumption of business. VAT should be reduced from 15 percent to 4 percent for women entrepreneurs.
It also proposed exemption of Tax, VAT and trade license fees for new women entrepreneurs for the first three years of starting a business.
As a national platform of women entrepreneurs, the BWCCI expressed its gratitude to the government for placing the highest importance on the health sector and naming agriculture, social safety net, SME, industrial production and service sectors as priority sectors, read a press release issued by the chamber on Thursday.
The chamber also thanks the government for increasing the tax limit for both men and women and introducing two separate working capital loan facilities for the affected SMEs with nominal interest.
The BWCCI firmly believes the present government is a women-friendly government, a prerequisite to the comprehensive development of the country. If the above proposals are considered in the revised national budget 2020-21, the economic empowerment of women will be increased towards the sustainable growth of the country.
